ABOUT

Welcome to the Buffalo Migration Mural Collaborative! We're excited to share this project's dream, vision and goal with you.

We are two artists called to be part of the revival of the bison (American bison) migration path that was once the lifeblood of these lands, ranging from Canada to Northern Mexico and from the west to the east coast. Bison once migrated in the millions along north-south lines and were the keystone species that sustained and maintained life cycles and ecosystems beyond what most of us can imagine. Plants, animals, and humans all depended upon them for survival.

The return of these magnificent beings holds the key to revitalizing landscapes known to be some of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the world. It also holds a healing for the land and those that depended upon them for eons.

What We Do

Our not-for-profit project's goal is to educate about the importance and value of returning bison to the land, through public artwork and information sharing.

We’re painting bison murals along the historic migration path. In November 2024 we completed our first mural, in Laramie, Wyoming, near the center of the route. In 2025 we traveled from Texas to Montana, searching for mural sites. We painted a mural in Great Falls, Montana and will be creating more in 2026.

Each mural includes a QR code for this website, where we share articles, books, documentaries, and highlight groups that are actively restoring bison to the land. We’re also developing an interactive map of bison murals and restoration efforts along the original range.

Join Us

Help visually recreate the historic bison migration path with us by painting a mural.

If you've painted a bison mural along the original range, we'd love to include it on our interactive map.

We'd also love to hear your ideas for collaboration.
